Re: Japanese Pizza
I'm giggling as I read through this menu of ingredients and thinking how could anyone want THAT on a pizza. Then I think about the stuff long ago that was considered outrageous like PINEAPPLE! OMG! I totally (yes, the Californian said that word) dig that and Alfalfa sprouts too. Not necessarily at the same time though.
I'm looking forward to trying some of these concoctions. Except the squid ink one. "Black mouth"? Nah.
Thanks for the goofy insights of foodies in the OUT ZONE.

Re: Japanese Pizza
since i am from alabama, i fully recognize the humor is making fun of japanese "epicurian" dee-lights. after all, a person can within two miles of where i sit purchase such goodness as pork chitlins (chitterlings to some), pigs feet pickled in vinegar, bright red "sausages" made from lord knows what (and also pickled in vinegar), and...not too far away...you can purchase dirt/clay for eating. no i am not making this up. at very rural southern locations, eating clay/dirt in small amounts is not uncommon. see "the encyclopedia of southern culture" if you doubt me.

having said all that, you japan-boyz n goils are truly nasty. my lord, you put mayonnaise on pizza! mayonnaise is the nastiest substance on earth, perhaps (maybe) out-done by pus. which it resembles.
i like the pizza hut japan menu translation: "we pay prudent attention to the meat of the crab, but because there is a bone of the crab and times when the shell has entered, please acknowledge." riiiggghhhhttttt.
the award for koolest pizza menu (well, for a soul destroying corporate menu) is pizza hut australia who apparently INSIST on REAL BACON instead of the nasty gunk they slap on and name "bacon topping" here. hey...margherita pizza aside, i think its fair to say pizza is an american institution. shouldn't OUR pizza be better quality than the land down under? my god, that's a nation that sells a product called "vegemite". (second only to mayonnaise as nastiest food item listed in this post).

Re: Choi Kwang Do
hey i appreciate the information on your site... me and my wife got married on the boarder.. and she didnt have a visa... the judge actually came down to the boarder and married us. Now, we are probably going to have to wait a year and a half to get the k3 spousal visa... instead of 3 months with the fiance visa. Could I divorce my wife to be "legally able to marry" again, then apply for the fiance visa? or could we apply for a fiance visa even though were married and still get permision to enter the states? please if you know the answer respond and tell me, theres no one out there to answer questions... not even in the embassey or consulate... they are extremely rude and will not answer any question i have about how to go about things. thanks i appreciate it.

Re: Japanese Pizza
OMG they put different toppings on their pizza?!

Sheesh, this is so 1991. When I was teaching English over there, I once overheard the teacher at the table next to me ranting about the horrors of corn on pizza - to students who were paying a lot of money to learn English, not to learn what their teacher felt was an offensive to his "food sensibilities". Seriously, WTF? The whole idea of pizza is it's an edible plate, upon which you put stuff you think will taste good. Bake and eat. I hate anchovies, someone else hates corn. Fine, go half and half, don't go complaining just because someone else has the capability to go beyond your own personal 'comfort zone' where food is concerned.

I like the pictures. Japan is still great for me. Although my world in the USA has changed, my new home of 18 years in the country side of eastern Kyushu, Nobeoka suits me just fine.

Re: Japanese Pizza
I lived in Japan for seven years. Found my wife there and had two kids there as well. I am living in the states now and miss Japanese food a lot! My wife tries to cook Japanese food here but getting the ingrediants is tough. One of the things we miss is Pizza La seafood pizza. So, I did a search and found your site. Thanks a bunch! I will try to recreate some of our favorite pizza as best as I can. Even the potato-mayo corn stuff that my wife loves. The info on your web page will help me a lot.

By the way, I lived in MITAKA-SHI for most of the seven years I was there. I loved it! Too bad I could only work on contract there...........

Re: Japanese Pizza
Being a New Yorker, who has spent much of my life working and commuting to Manhattan (though I live in Brooklyn- where we KNOW how to make authentic american style brick oven pizza to perfection] I have seen many of these combinations before-though the mayonaise ones I certainly have not-but I have seen all of these ingrediants offered in japanese, and asian fusion style restaurants sans the pizza. Manhattanites tend to have one of the widest palates you will find around due to the fact that the people who both live and set up shop here come from all over the world. I can definately see someone making a pizza restaurant like this here that takes off for sure! Especially if you add in more of the cow grazing high fiber variety ingrediants as some of the pizza options. I for one would like to try almost all of these, I find trying new foods to be an an interesting and often rewarding experience, and at worst if its downright awful I can always order something else. But then again that's just my opinion : )

Re: Japan by Motorcycle
Love the site. I have always wanted to visit Japan, and recently started planning a trip. I was poking around for a cheap way to visit the country (considering Guest Houses or YH's) and found your site. (I had search for Japan Motorcycle Trip")... Because I currently ride and that sounds like a really great time. Your site is exactly what I was looking for. Reading about your journey was very entertaining and I read through the whole thing in one sitting. I'm even more excited to try something like this now. Thanks so much for sharing your trip!!
