I was just flipping channels and flipped to a Hurricane relief concert on NBC. Wynton Marsalis was playing and just finishing up his song. I was about to change the channel but then Mike Myers came on so I stayed tuned to listen to the spiel. He was with Kanye West, a singer (rapper?). Anyway when it became Kanye's turn to speak it became clear that he was ad-libbing. He said he hated the way the media portrays "us" and said when they show a black family on tv, they're "looting" but when they show a white family, they're "looking for food." It was Mike Myers turn again and he said whatever was on the teleprompter, then it was back to Kanye West. That's when he looked straight at the camera and said:

George Bush doesn't care about black people.

The look on Mike Myers face was funny. Quite the awkward situation. He was about to try to carry on but then the video was cut and they went to somebody else.

It was a coincidence that I even caught it since I happened to just switch to the NBC thing just before it occurred. So I missed Janet Jackson's costume "mishap" live in January but I caught this event. It will make tomorrow's news for sure.

I hate the way they portray us in the media, if you see a black family it says they're looting, see a white family it says they're looking for food and you know that it's been five days because most of the people are black and even for me to complain about it i would be a hypocrite because i tried to turn away from the tv because it's too hard to watch i've even been shoppping before even giving a donation so now i'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount i can give and just to imagine if i was down there and those are my people down there so if anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help with the set up the way america is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible i mean this is -- the red cross is doing everything they can we already realize that a lot of poeple who could help are at war right now fighting another way and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us.
